Global Settings

Global Settings is an administrative area within Paperly that allows authorised users to configure and manage core data across the platform.

Feature only available to Admin users

What is Global Settings?

Global Settings is an administrative area within Paperly that allows authorised users to configure and manage core data across the platform.

It acts as the central control layer for your school’s Paperly environment. From here, you can manage permissions, update branding, and oversee key institutional data that supports workflows throughout the system.

Because Global Settings impacts how the entire platform operates, access is typically limited to senior leaders or designated system administrators.

Permissions Management

Assign and manage user roles across the platform. Control who can view, edit, approve, or configure workflows and data.

Brand & Theme Settings

Update how Paperly appears to your staff and parents, including logo, colours, and login imagery.

Core Data Tables

Access and manage structured data that supports workflows, including:

Structured Data

Staff

Classes

Students

Medical Conditions

Parents

Qualification Levels

Custom Data Fields (where enabled)

Year Levels

These datasets power forms, permissions, reporting, and operational workflows across the platform.

How Do I Find Global Settings?

Global Settings is available to users with the appropriate administrative permissions. If you cannot see Global Settings, you may need to contact your school’s Paperly administrator to request access.

1

On the dashboard

Click on your Profile icon (top right corner).

2

From the dropdown

Select Global Settings.

3

Global Settings will open

Where you can view and manage a range of administrative configuration options.

Permissions

What are Permission Levels?

Paperly uses structured permission levels to ensure users only access the data and functionality appropriate to their role. This helps protect sensitive information while enabling teams to work efficiently.

Adding, Editing or Removing Permissions

Administrators can:
  • Assign permission levels to new users.

  • Adjust permissions when roles change.

  • Remove access when staff leave.

It is best practice to review permissions regularly, particularly at the start or end of each academic year.

Brand Settings

Brand Settings allow you to customise the look and feel of Paperly so it reflects your school’s identity.

From Global Settings, you can:
  • Upload your school logo

  • Select brand colours

  • Update the login screen image

This ensures consistency between Paperly and your wider school communications.

Best Practice for Styling

Logo Requirements

For best results:
  • Recommended Dimensions: Minimum 400px wide (high resolution preferred)

  • File Types: PNG or SVG recommended

  • Background: Transparent background preferred for clean display

Logos will scale across desktop and mobile devices.

Brand Colours

You can select a primary or secondary colour from your school’s brand palette. This colour will be reflected in buttons, highlights, and key interface elements.

Choose a colour that:
  • Matches your official branding

  • Provides good contrast

  • Remains readable across devices

Login Photo

The login image appears on the Paperly sign-in screen.

Best practice includes:
  • High-quality image (landscape orientation preferred)

  • Clear, welcoming visual (e.g., campus, students, school building)

  • No sensitive student imagery unless approved under your school’s media policy

This image helps create a professional and welcoming first impression for staff and parents.
